Electrical Estimates & Written Quotations

Our commitment to you

While it's not always possible to immediately quote an exact price for electrical work to be undertaken (before seeing the site of the work), it's certainly possible to give an initial indication on the phone, and we're more than happy to do this, without obligation for you to use our services.

We're fully aware of horror stories within our industry, where customers have been stung with extortionate callout charges and unexpectedly big bills for electrical services undertaken.   This is why we demonstrate our commitment to you on our website.   We commit to:

  1. Give you an initial costing for our electrical services, as part of an initial telephone conversation.
  2. Provide a written quotation for work, which will be the price you pay.
  3. Arrive for the work on the date and time that we say we will and to complete the work within the timescale that we provide you with.
  4. Encourage you to provide feedback on our service via Checkatrade, which demonstrates that we're more than happy for all customer feedback to be provided to an independent party and published on their website.

Although we haven't included a full menu of prices for our electrical services or electrical installation, we hope that the following few samples of prices plus also examples from customer work done recently will provide you with enough reason to make contact with us for a quotation ...

Electrical pricing examples

Mrs Johnson wanted a quote to change four ceiling lights (take down and replace with new supplied by the client) and 3 wall lights (take down and replace with new supplied by the client).

A D Sparks quoted 4 x £30 (£120) and 3 x £35 (£105), including any screws, accessories etc. that would be required. We are not VAT registered.

Mrs Johnson accepted the quote, we carried out works and she was very happy, the bill was £225 as per the quote.

Miss Simpson from Farnborough (landlady) wanted  quotes for a periodic inspection report on a three bedroom house and a two bedroom house.  We explained that as a landlord a periodic inspection report (although not legaly compulsory) would be prudent and a good agent would recommend it.  As with the same principle as a car MOT test, the report would produce a remedial list of items coded from 1 - 4, classified as: 1 = urgent, 2 = needs improvement asap, 3 = requires further investigation, 4 = doesn't conform to the regulations (does not mean unsafe).

This inspection work for the two & three bedroom houses was costed at £185 x 2 (£370 total), which included a remedial list and a free quote itemising each point individually and if works completed would include a satisfactory status.

Mr Evans from Earley in Reading wanted a quote to fix a problem bathroom light, and to replace an old fuse box.

A D Sparks found there was no evidence of main bonding to the water mains and gas meter and we pointed out that by law, to carry out any new electrical works, we would have to quote for this (£195).

A D Sparks then quoted to supply enclosed zone 1 light fitting in the bathroom and fix the loose wiring problem (£70).

A D Sparks also quoted to supply and fit 17th edition split load consumer unit and to test the electrics in the house and issue an installation certificate (£495).

We carried out works to his satisfaction, but he also had a problem with the ring main.  We said that we were happy to work alongside Mr Evans and fault-find the problem with him.  We agreed a daily rate of 0 - 2 hours (£80), half day of up to 4.5 hours (£125), or for a full day of 4.5 - 9 hours (£225).

We carried out a job in Mychett, where we removed 4 x old semi-recessed lights that were overheating and breaking down. We replaced these with six low voltage down lights and plaster boarded the old holes left by old lights and repaired the ceiling ready for painting. We supplied the lights and transformers etc., fitted them, and repaired the ceiling. We charged the customer £50 per light fitting. This is a typical job and price.

For a customer in Bracknell we changed single sockets to double sockets for £45 (surface & flushed in the wall & made good) and installed new double sockets for between £50-£90 supplied and fitted, depending on location etc.

For a customer in Mychet we fitted 2 x radio linked smoke alarms.  The client supplied the alarms and Adsparks supplied cable, installation, and the fixings certificate for £95.

We have recently been working at Frimley park hospital, removing old sockets and installing white plastic 3 compartment trunking, fitted around the walls.  We have fitted this at a dado height above worktop, but this could also have been done in a skirting finish fitted at low level.  The good thing about this system is that the telephone & data points, double sockets etc. are together and can easily be added /changed quickly and econonically.  When we carried out works we issued a test certificate and labelled up the circuit at the distribution board and on the sockets to make it easily identifiable for future use/emergency etc.
