Q – Why and how often should I check my electrics?
A 1) – That can depend on what the premises is, what it's used for and by whom. It's advised that if you are the occupier then you should have a periodic inspection to give the electrics a clean bill of health. Once you have established a satisfactory report, then this can be valid for up to ten years.
A 2) – If you are a landlord/lady then it is advised you have a periodic inspection report carried out and then have the premises checked out every time you have a change of tenancy, i.e. a visual inspection.
Q - I am thinking of moving and want the electrics checked out -what's the best way to do this?
A – There are two ways to approach this ... 1) a visual inspection report - this uses our 30+ years experience of having a quick look and ticking boxes on the report, takes approximately 50 minutes to carry out and costs £55 (no VAT), or 2) you could have piece of mind and have a periodic inspection report carried out, which takes approximately 6-9 hours and costs from £155 (no VAT).
Q – I am at work Monday – Friday, do you work Saturdays and do you charge extra?
A – Yes we do work Saturdays at no extra cost.
Q – I have lots of small jobs and some little problems to fix, but I find it hard to get a firm quote on the work to be done - how do I know that I won't get ripped off?
A 1) – Yes, this is a common problem with new customers, we recommend you visiting Checkatrade, which is an independent body that monitors our work and customer satisfaction. On there you will see our many customers comments, many of whom had previously had the same concerns.
A 2) - This can also be because electricians don’t know what the full problem is until they get their tools out and investigate. We would always encourage you to phone us first and give us as close an idea of the work to be done initially so that we can most accurately provide a quote. To also help with situations in which it's hard to judge the extent of small jobs to fix, we offer a half day work hire charge of £110, and a one day work charge of £200. We also like the customer to be present so that all issues are fully identified. Our vans are also fully stocked and racked out, so we usually have parts on board, which enables a faster resolution of the issues.
